Working with Neurodivergent Clients
Over the years, I’ve worked alongside many clients who identify as neurodivergent. This includes people who have autism, have ADHD, or who experience the world in ways that don’t always fit neatly into conventional expectations
Neurodivergence isn’t something that needs to be “fixed”. Many people come to therapy not because their neurodivergence is the problem, but because of the ways they’ve had to adapt to a world that often misunderstands them.
For some, this can mean years of feeling different, an outsider, masking parts of themselves, or being told – directly or indirectly – that they are “too much”, “too sensitive”, or somehow not quite fitting in.
Therapy can offer a space where those experiences are taken seriously and explored with care and curiosity.
A supportive and collaborative space
In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can bring your experiences openly and without judgement. Therapy isn’t about forcing you to fit a particular mould. Instead, it’s about understanding how your mind works, what your experiences have been like, and how you might want to move forward.
For some neurodivergent clients this might include exploring:
- the impact of masking or camouflaging over time
- feelings of exhaustion or burnout
- navigating relationships and communication differences
- experiences of being misunderstood or invalidated
- developing a kinder and more accepting relationship with yourself
Therapy that works at your pace
Everyone’s experience of neurodivergence is different, and therapy needs to reflect that. Some people prefer a more reflective, exploratory space, while others may appreciate greater structure or clarity.
My approach is flexible and collaborative, allowing us to find a rhythm that feels comfortable and supportive for you.
My approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I draw on different therapeutic perspectives to help us together understand your experiences, explore patterns in your life and support meaningful change.
Online therapy
I offer therapy online, which many neurodivergent clients find more comfortable than attending sessions in person. Working from your own space can reduce the stress of travel, unfamiliar environments, or sensory overload.
Online therapy also allows me to work with clients across the UK and internationally.
Getting in touch
If you’re neurodivergent and considering therapy, you’re welcome to get in touch to see whether working together might feel like a good fit. I offer an initial conversation where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy and whether my approach feels right for you.
